Synopsis
Juana the Mad, Juana I of Castille. The daughter of the Catholic Kings, Isabel I and Fernando V, she was the only legitimate heir of the crowns of Castille and Aragon. She lived a life of loneliness and imprisonment. Hers is a story of manipulation and discrimination against women, in which Juana was used again and again as an instrument by her father, her husband and her own son in the desperate struggle for the succession. The musical work identifies with her, observing the facts of history from her perspective, but in an intimate manner.
